FORBEARING One ANOTHER
-by David Wilkerson.

"Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye"
(Colossians 3:13, italics mine).

Forbearing and forgiving are two different issues. Forbearing means ceasing from all acts and thoughts of revenge. It says, in other words, "Don't take matters into your own hands. Instead, endure the hurt. Lay the matter down and leave it alone."

Yet, forbearing is not just a New Testament concept. Proverbs tells us, "Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work" (Proverbs 24:29). We are given a powerful example of this admonition in David's life. He was in a vengeful rage toward a wicked man named Nabal because Nabal refused to help him when he needed help. David swore revenge but he obeyed God's counsel, "Do not avenge yourself - let the Lord fight your battle." That situation was resolved in a timely manner and David praised God for his intervention. (See 1 Samuel
25 for the entire story.)

David had another opportunity for easy revenge when he found his pursuer, Saul, asleep in a cave, in which David himself was hiding.
David's men urged him, "This is God's doing. He has delivered Saul into your hands. Kill him now, and avenge yourself." But David forbore, instead cutting off a piece of Saul's garment, so he could later prove he could have killed him. Such wise actions are God's ways of putting our enemies to shame, and that was the case when David showed Saul the garment. Saul responded, "Thou art more righteous than I: for thou has rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil" (1 Samuel 24:17).

Now we come to forgiving, which encompasses two other
commandments: (1) Loving your enemies and (2) Praying for them.
"I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44).

One wise old preacher said, "If you can pray for your enemies, you can do all the rest." I have found this to be true in my own life.

Jesus never said the work of forgiving would be easy. When he commanded, "Love your enemies," the Greek word for "love" does not mean "affection" but "moral understanding." Simply put, forgiving someone isn't a matter of stirring up human affection, but making a moral decision to remove hatred from our hearts.

MY DARLING SISTER- for being there and listening to my really repetitive rants all day long and giving me all the woffles when i need them the most. and really no one can ever ever EVER replace you. i would have to say you are not only my most sock rockin sister but i have to say my bestest friend. and even though you werent here today, but the times when you stood by me when i was totally down really means loads to me however dopey i always look. anyway, oh one more thing THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS SCOOPING ICE CREAM FOR ME AND COVERING ME whenever mom calls :] LOVE TO THE MAXX

next: DADDY- i know you were pretty upset for me not telling you bout the whole incident. and i know you were angry at me for not telling you and keeping secrets and not being totally honest with you. and daddy i have never really thanked you for all the times you've fetched me to and fro from school and your unwavering support really really means a lot to me. and though i screw up my exams and do loads of retarded stuff all the time. i have never heard you say any negative stuff bout me or my actions. instead you teach me gently and always giving me Godly advices to find my way. and for that i'm really really thankful that i have such an awesome dad like you. and i'm gna make you a giant thank you card and pen this down too. LOVE TO THE MAX. xx

mom: i know you are never the affectionate sort who unlike daddy showers his love and lavishes it on us all the time. and instead you kept your love tucked away always making me trying to please you. i know you were quite disappointed that i didnt tell you bout such a ""huge"" matter and i chose to keep it from you. i would like to say sorry ma for keeping it from you. didnt really wanna worry you since you're already so busy at work and i know your job's really stressful. hey it aint not easy bein in charge of numbers all the time. (right poa students?) and i know you've been keeping quite all this time cos you wanna give me space and i'm really happy that this episode brought our whole family closer. so i would also like to say I REALLY REALLY LOVE YOU. and the whole entire family. inc bunbun

BUNBUN: my dearest loveliest boyfriend. though you are always outside and all you care bout is eating but haha you have been such a stress reliever and the bundle of joy in our family! though i doubt you'll read this but who cares. and i hope i can train you to attack someday.. but we'll just work on sit for now.

my fellow isomer: GAH! there's so much to write bout you but i shall cut it short :] my furry isomer really really greatful to have such a pal like you. always there to joke and find the funny side of everything and although i cant go to the cruise with you, I SHALL SEND YOU OFF :D and also really thank you for bein there un judging and everything :D


the person who meows and sleeps half the time: thank you so so much for always being there armed with your encouragements and the bible verses which helps and you know your advices all mean a lot a lot to me.and i really thank God for such a friend like you :)

woman who shares the same bday: ALRIGHT BROTHER! haha you know your little funny gestures really brighten up my day and really really appreciate all you support and ohoh we are ALL ONE BEAVER! haha and your funny antics cheers me up loads :D so a massive thank you!
